The Incoming Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General to Liberia pays courtesy call on President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf

The incoming Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-general to Liberia, Madam Ellen Loj, has paid a courtesy call on President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in Monrovia.

The United Nations Representative said she was pleased to be in Liberia and looked forward to working with the Liberian government to consolidate the peace, national reconciliation and development.

According to an Executive Mansion release, Madam Loj said she has followed with interest the President’s engagement with the Donor community during travels around the world, stressing the importance to remain actively engaged to ensure increased support.

Ambassador Loj, who chaired the UN Sanctions Committee on Liberia expressed her support for ongoing development programs taking place in the country and spoke of the need for continued partnership between the Mission and Liberia for speedy implementation of projects.

Welcoming Ambassador Loj, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf promised government’s continued support for the UN Mission to Liberia. The President spoke of the challenges, facing the country and expressed government’s determination to confront them.

Outgoing SRSG, Ambassador Allan Doss was also part of Monday’s meeting between the President and the incoming Special Representative of the Secretary-general.

Ambassador Loj, who is on a three-day visit to Liberia, returns to the country mid-January next year to take up her new assignment.
